Will robots take our jobs?

This is a big debate in the future of work, and what exactly are the skills that we will need? With increasing digitialization, every job will have a digital component to it. Therefore, digital skills are crucial. In the areas of cloud, there's likely to be more need for skills in AI and robotics; this is an increasing reality.

At the same time, technologies may emerge that we don’t know yet. So, in addition to these hardened technical skills that are increasingly demanded, there is still a real need to understand the human and soft skills. Some human skills that are relevant regardless of the digital skills are mentioned in the HAVE model:

Humility - do you have an attitude of learning?

Adaptability - are you willing to look at all the information that’s coming around you, being aware, and being able to challenge and change your opinion?

Visioning - in areas of high uncertainty, still being able to clarify and talk about vision and where you go will be important

Engage - at the end of the day we are all human, and we need to work as a team. 

How to develop a pro-team career

They call this a modern career theory; this is likely to resonate with what is needed in a world that is digital and highly volatile. An academic called Douglas Hall emphasizes that individuals should be the ones in the driving seat in their career; and that they should be in a state of readiness and they should be flexible with regards to work.

There are three key things to this pro-team career. Drive, personal values and how to measure success. 

These three principles define the pro-team career. Given that there is so much uncertainty and so much that we can’t control around us, these principles can help us control and reflect on.
