Parks and Recreation Department PartTime YearRound Maintenance Salaryampnbsp 1800 Hourly Job Type Parttime ampnbsp Description Incumbent serves as General Maintenance for the Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department responsible for enforcing Park policy and performing general upkeep and maintenance of County parks facilities and grounds Examples of Duties Applies mechanical electrical plumbing and construction techniques to projects and repairs including but not limited to small equipment pumps receptacles switches circuit breakers lights faucet and pipe leaks toilets water heaters and elements small buildings constructions log cabin log hewing signage bridges roofs doors and windows cabinets tables welding painting and concrete work Contributes to general park maintenance such as cleaning shelters restroom and shops and trash pickup and removal Maintains roofs and gutters and performs preventative maintenance on vehicles equipment and tools Operates various equipmentmachinery in performance of duties including but not limited to wood splitter utility vehicles dump truck and pickup truck Operates various hand andor power tools in performance of duties including but not limited to hammer screw drivers wrenches drills driver ratchet mop broom leaf blower weed eater and mower Maintains assigned grounds including mowing trimming weed eating planting pruning mulching spraying brush and tree removal and lake maintenance Provides Park security including but not limited to enforcing park rules and regulations Participates in special events as needed Performs related duties as assigned ampnbsp Typical Qualifications High school diploma or GED Ability to meet all employer and Department hiring requirements including passage of a drug test Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of Department policies and procedures and applicable OSHA safety policies and procedures Knowledge of safety precautions andampnbsppractices applicable to working with a variety of pesticides herbicides and cleaning chemicals and ability to read and understand label directions for correct mixing and use of chemicalsupplies Knowledge of standard English grammar spelling and punctuation and ability to prepares detailed reports such as activity reports Ability to operate various equipmentmachinery in performance of duties including but not limited to wood splitter utility vehicles dump truck and pickup truck Ability to properly operate various hand andor power tools in performance of duties including but not limited to hammer screw drivers wrenches drills driver ratchet mop broom leaf blower weed eater and mower Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with coworkers other County departments and the public including being sensitive to professional ethics gender cultural diversities and disabilities Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules including but not limited to attendance safety drugfree workplace and personal conduct Ability to provide access to or maintain confidentiality of department information and records according to state requirements Ability to understand memorize retain and carry out written or oral instructions and present findings in oral or written form Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment Ability to work on several tasks at the same time and work rapidly for long periods often under time pressure Ability to apply knowledge of people andor locations Possession of a valid Indiana drivers license and demonstrated safe driving record Supplemental Information Ability to physically perform essential duties of the position including driving bending reaching crouchingkneeling standingwalking for long periods walking on uneven terrain climbing ladders pushingpulling objects moderate to heavy lifting working in awkward or cramped positions closefar vision colordepth perception hearing mechanical sounds and handlinggraspingfingering objects Ability to work weekends andor evening hours As an EOEAA employer Vigo County Government will not discriminate in its employment practices due to an applicants age race color religion sex sexual orientation gender identity national origin protected veteran or disability statusampnbsp
