What You’ll Do As a Residential Building Inspector, you’ll be out in the field and in the community: Conduct inspections on new construction, remodels, and residential renovations Ensure compliance with state and local building codes Partner with contractors, designers, and property owners to explain requirements and resolve issues Investigate complaints and follow through to resolution Document findings, prepare reports, and track compliance Perform follow-up inspections on code violations Interpret and apply building codes with sound judgment and professionalism What You Bring to the Table You’re not entry-level—you’ve been in the field and know how construction really works: High School Diploma or GED 8+ years of experience as a licensed residential contractor Valid Allen County Contractor License, Inspector Certification, or ability to achieve the license within 12 months of hire.
