Essential Functions: Maintains and repairs doors, furniture, hardware, windows, hang artwork, headboards, etc. Ability to climb on ladders, stoop, push or pull heavy furniture, and grasp hand tools. Ability to visually inspect, diagnose problems, take measurements and make necessary adjustments to items such as door hardware to ensure safe, smooth operation of guestrooms, public space and back of the house facilities. This will involve the extension of arms to replace ceiling tiles, lifting and positioning of sheetrock, replacing chair rails and corner moldings, kneeling to repair wood floors and Formica work. Performs shop work to repair or build furniture. Identifies types and grades of wood in addition to the ability to measure and be familiar with hardware materials available to the carpentry trade. Uses shop equipment such as: table saw, drill press, band saw, electric planner, and router are required. Ability to build cabinets, shelving units, and fabricate furniture parts for repairs with the materials and tools available. Supportive Functions: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, at the discretion of the manager based on the particular requirements of the hotel. Receives lumber deliveries and cleans workshop. Constructs various signs and props as well as hangs items such as signs and banners.
