Duke Healthy Lifestyles Clinic Job Summary The Duke Healthy Lifestyles Clinic is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and highly team-oriented Advanced Practice Provider APP to join our multidisciplinary team caring for children, adolescents, and young adults up to age 23 with obesity. Our team includes medical providers, registered dietitians, physical therapists, mental health professionals, and occupational therapists, with on-site access to pediatric cardiology, endocrinology, and pulmonology. Our practice is committed to evidence-based lifestyle change and patient-centered care, with particular attention to social drivers of health, weight bias, and stigma that can affect the health and well-being of children and families. We serve a racially and ethnically diverse population, including many families from low-income communities. We are seeking someone who brings compassion, enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong commitment to collaborative care; values the perspectives and experiences of patients and families; and is eager to contribute to a supportive, innovative, and multidisciplinary team. Job Eligibility Requirements Experience Prior experience caring for children with obesity is preferred but not required. Likewise, prior experience prescribing anti-obesity medications is not required; the selected provider will receive training in evidence-based obesity pharmacotherapy, as well as evaluation and preparation of patients for bariatric surgery and postoperative care. We are especially interested in candidates with training or experience in motivational interviewing or other patient-centered communication approaches. A bilingual provider is strongly preferred. Education Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing. Physician Assistants: Work requires completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred. Certification BLS required. License Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. National certification as a NP required. Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Physical and mental requirements: Able to clearly articulate scope of practice, and practices within those guidelines as a Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant in the state of North Caro
