Designer I ndash Sewer amp Stormwater PartTime Schedule Up to 29 hours per week hours may vary Are you detaildriven technically curious and ready to build realworld engineering experience using design software and data to improve water systems The City Utilities Engineering team is hiring a parttime Designer I to support sewer and stormwater projects for the City of Fort Wayne This is an entrylevel engineering role focused on design analysis and project supportideal for someone looking to grow their technical skills while working on impactful infrastructure projects What Youll Do Support planning design and construction engineering efforts for sewer and stormwater projects Assist with data collection drafting permitting and project coordination under the guidance of engineering leadership Key Responsibilities bull Assist with project setup data collection and analysis of utility system conditions bull Create and modify construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software bull Support permitting easement acquisition and project documentation processes bull Assist with prebid activities including assembling plans and coordinating meetings bull Track project schedules budgets and documentation using PMIS What You Bring ndash Education amp Experience bull Bachelors degree in Civil Mechanical or Electrical Engineering ABETaccredited or equivalent engineering program bull Ability to meet Engineer Intern EI requirements upon passing the FE exam bull At least 6 months of experience with word processing and spreadsheet software Technical Skills amp Knowledge bull Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar draftingdesign tools bull Familiarity with hydraulic and hydrologic concepts preferred bull Ability to interpret engineering plans surveys and technical documents bull Experience with project tracking systems PMIS and data management tools is a plus bull Strong problemsolving and analytical skills Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne At the City of Fort Wayne youll gain handson experience supporting critical water infrastructure projects that serve the community every day This role offers mentorship technical growth and exposure to realworld engineering from design through construction Equal Opportunity Employer nbsp
