Your Opportunity nStantec is currently seeking an Archaeology Field Lead based in Texas Oklahoma or Louisiana to direct field activities Our team provides Section 106NEPA analysis technical studies and project permitting for a wide variety of private and federal state and local government clients in Texas Louisiana Oklahoma and the surrounding regionnThis position requires the ability to work outdoors in remote locations for extended periods in all weather conditions often traversing rugged terrain and consistent adherence to workplace safety requirements Must be able to work independently when conditions are appropriate or with limited supervisionn This is a fulltime opportunity with benefits n Your Key Responsibilities nn Oversee and lead archaeological crews during archaeological surveys testing and excavation projectsn Utilize a variety of field methodologies including archaeological survey testing excavation surface collection and monitoringn Lead the collection recording analysis and interpretation of archaeological data in the fieldn Record and evaluate soils using color Munsell texture and inclusions navigate using a compass USGS topographic maps plan maps GPS units tablets and aerial photographyn Assist with setting up a site grid datum and excavations units Mapping site plans and individual shovel tests units and features in plan and profilen Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts following standard collection proceduresn Identify cultural featuresn Clean and prepare site surfaces for mapping and photographyn Assist with laboratory reporting as neededn May need to coordinate property entry with right of way agents andor property ownersn Time in the field is anticipated to be 80 or moren
