Grounded in safety quality and ethics our experts lead their fields and guide our work with rigor a creative spirit and a vision for growth We draw from more than 20 technical specialties worldwide and are committed to fostering an inclusive community of diverse talents backgrounds and expertise Were a place to apply your passion and collaborate with top environmental talents on work critical to our clients and the communities they support Join a team that has the environment down to a sciencen Your Opportunity nWe have an immediate opening for an experienced Professional Geotechnical Engineer The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in challenging and diverse geotechnical engineering projects across a variety of sectors and geographies including major infrastructure projects in a multidiscipline team environment Other project types include industrial developments building and land developments civil infrastructure pipelines and midstream facilities mining infrastructure flood mitigation infrastructure geohazards evaluation landslide and slope mitigation and renewable energy developments Working in one of our Oregon or Washington offices you will join a growing internal geotechnical support team and have the chance to collaborate with internal multidisciplinary design teams and our geotechnical geohazard geomorphology and materials testing experts across the US and Canada This role will allow you to leverage your geotechnical engineering experience and take on increased responsibility while receiving senior mentorship from industry leading experts The successful candidate should be able to work independently and with small and large teams to apply critical thinking skills to solve technical issues and develop projectspecific solutions The position will require travel to project sites and will provide stimulating career growth opportunities Your Key Responsibilities nn Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe mannern Work in conjunction with engineers geologists and scientists to solve project challenges leading projects proposals design tasks and overseeing design calculations as requiredn Manage a variety of small to large projects spanning from transportation residential commercial and industrial developments as well as linear corridors and geohazard workn Mentor coach and train less experienced professionals as required encouraging growth and succession within the teamn Manage projects and tasks with the assistance of 1 to 10 engineers and geologistsn Select criteria for planning design and construction of geotechnical engineering projects for all sectorsn Assist with feasibility studies by conducting research to assess challenges and develop solutionsn Conduct and supervise staff performing numerical analysis using programs such as FLAC PLAXIS Phase2 SEEPW and SLOPEWn Develop familiarity with regulatory agency requirements technical design standards and industry standards and guidelinesn Lead the preparation of and take responsibility for technical reports including geotechnical data reports geotechnical baseline reports field reports technical memoranda computation packages feasibility reports and design and evaluation reportsn Contribute to design drawings and specifications for various levels of design eg 30 60 90 100 designn Participate in professional development and training activitiesn Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices including health safety risk management project management and quality managementn Grow internal and external networks to further enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our teamn Mentor and train future leaders including development of succession plans for key positionsn Promote collaboration and teamwork across business lines and geographiesnn Your Capabilities and Credentials nn Working knowledge of the principles of geotechnical engineeringn Willing and able to travel to project sites regionally and occasionally nationallyn Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint software as well as relevant geotechnical applicationsn Understanding of multidisciplinary design teams with experience of collaborating across projectsn Ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environmentn Strong technical skills are a must and experience reviewing internal projects and design are preferredn Excellent written and verbal communication skillsn Team building skills are essential for the candidate to meet the expectations of this positionn Resultsoriented individual who has demonstrated enthusiasm and possesses a high degree of integrityn Strong problemsolving skillsn Demonstrated ability and desire to work with and contribute to a larger teamn Previous leadership or people management experience is highly desirableexperience managing technical teams and staff level engineers and geologists is requiredn
