The San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health invites qualified behavioral health professionals to apply for the position of Licensed Clinical Therapist II - Juvenile Justice Programs. Licensed Clinical Therapists II (CTII) assigned to Juvenile Justice Programs (JJP) are assigned to a juvenile detention facility to provide behavioral health services to justice-involved youth in a structured, secure, and multidisciplinary treatment environment. Clinical Therapist II staff conduct clinical assessments, provide individual and group therapy, develop and monitor treatment plans, respond to behavioral health crises, and support suicide prevention and stabilization efforts. Clinical Therapist II staff must be comfortable working within a secure facility, following established safety and security procedures, and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries while providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate services. Services are provided in collaboration with San Bernardino County Probation Department personnel, medical staff, psychiatrists, psychologists, substance use disorder counselors, educators, community providers, and other members of the youth’s multidisciplinary treatment team. Licensed Clinical Therapists II within JJP play an important role in helping youth identify their behavioral health needs, develop coping and emotional regulation skills, strengthen family and community connections, and prepare for successful transition and reintegration back into the community. The Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is responsible for providing mental health and substance use disorder services to county residents who are experiencing major mental illness or substance abuse related issues. DBH provides mental health and substance use disorder prevention and treatment services to all age groups, with a primary emphasis on treating children/youth who may be seriously emotionally disturbed, adults who are experiencing a serious and persistent mental illness, and individuals who are experiencing substance use disorders.
