As a Guest Services Attendant, you'll serve as the welcoming face of Duke Recreation & Physical Education facilities, helping create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. As a frontline team member, you'll play an essential role in maintaining secure facility access while providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced recreation environment. What You'll Do: Create Exceptional Member Experiences Welcome members and guests with professionalism, enthusiasm, and exceptional customer service. Provide accurate information and helpful responses to questions in person and over the phone. Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all facility users. Manage Access and Membership Verification Verify facility access using DukeCard, Mobile DukeCard, or MyRec Mobile ID. Review membership status through Fusion software and approve or deny facility entry based on access eligibility. Ensure compliance with facility usage guidelines and membership requirements. Support Guest Services Operations Assist guests and visitors with check-in procedures and explain facility policies. Maintain accurate guest and visitor records. Support key management processes and facility reservation activities. Maintain Facility Safety and Accountability Document incidents, accidents, and facility concerns accurately and professionally. Manage lost and found items according to departmental procedures. Coordinate with facility monitors, lifeguards, and other recreation staff to support day-to-day operations. Contribute to a Team Environment Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth facility operations. Support emergency response procedures while remaining calm, professional, and service-focused.
