Homes for Children PartTime Direct Care Staff for Youth ampnbsp Salary 1800 per hour ampnbsp Job Type ampnbspParttime NoteampnbspProgram operates on a 247 schedule Weekends and holidays may be required Shifts are flexible and may include day evening and overnight to accommodate the needs of the agency ampnbsp Description The parttime Direct Care Staff will be primarily responsible for assisting the Youth Care Specialist in providing care and supervision of youth in the program ampnbspYouth served are placed via the Indiana Department of Child Services or the Indiana Juvenile Justice Systemampnbsp Youth served have experienced trauma and will displayampnbspreactionary behaviors This staff member will serve as a youth advocate for assigned residentsampnbsp ampnbspThe staff member will ensure that residents developmental needs are met within a safe and supportive environment that enhances their ability to meet their treatment goals ampnbsp Example of Duties The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in trauma informed care crisis interventionampnbspand milieu managementampnbsp In addition to demonstrating the ability to Abide by the directives of the supervisor and director Assist the Youth Care Specialist in effectively responding to and managing youth behavioral problems and prevent crisis situations by adopting a proactive approach of leadership direction encouragement and instruction Assist the Youth Care Specialist in the consistent implementation of treatmentampnbspplans to accommodate the individual needs of the youth reduce maladaptive behaviors and promote positive change Assist the Youth Care Specialist withampnbspthe development and implementation of daily living selfhelp and social skills to accommodate the individual needs of residents Assist the Youth Care Specialist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment Assist the Youth Care Specialist with the development and implementation of programming recreation and leisure activities for the youth Complete required documentation in a professional manner Perform effectively with moderate supervision Present as a positive role model for the youth at all times through presentation disposition and actionsampnbsp ampnbspWork as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team Attend all meetings inservices and trainings as scheduled Adhere to the guidelines pertaining to policies and procedures along with agency county state and federal regulationsampnbsp Perform all other duties as assigned Typical Qualifications At least 21 years of age High school diploma or HSEampnbsp Demonstrate reliability and dependabilityampnbspto work scheduled shifts arrive on time and be present the entire shift Special Requirements Successfully complete a preemployment physical and drug screen Favorably meet and maintain Vigo County Homes for Children background screening Be clear of any felony convictions substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal offenses Possession of a valid drivers license Complete all trainings CPR AED First Aid CPI etc as scheduled after being hired Physical Requirements Ability to operate a variety of automated office machines Ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to light work involving routine stooping kneelingampnbspcrouching and reaching Ability to participate in physical recreational activities and exercise programs Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication Ability to comprehend and correctly use a variety of informational documents reports and records Ability to comprehend a variety of reference books and manuals including policy manuals school handbooks and firstaid manuals Ability to prepare resident files recreation sheets information petitions chore charts memorandum correspondence and other job related documents using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation grammar diction and style Ability to accurately record and deliver information meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality of restricted information Ability to make independent judgments use common sense and utilize the principles of influence and rational systems in the performance of tasks Ability to work under stressful conditions to respond immediatelyampnbspto crisis situations and to balance priorities within and between officesdepartments and agencies Ability to maintain personal composure and tactfully handle difficult situations and interpret questions correctly ability to behave in an understanding helpful and professional manner Environmental Adaptability Ability to work effectively in a residential home environment ability to protect self and others in situations that may include violence toxic agentschemicals diseases etc Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions Ability to physically protect self and others in crisis situations and highly emotional situations Vigo County is an Equal opportunity Employerampnbsp ampnbsp
